TEHRAN (ECOIDEAL)- Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Turkish Economy Minister Nihat Zeybekci underscored the need for the further development of economic relations between the two countries, specially in the banking sector.
During the meeting in Tehran on Wednesday, President Rouhani underlined strengthening and developing banking ties between Iran and Turkey, saying that consolidation of bilateral ties would be beneficial to both nations and the whole region.
The two countries enjoy plenty of historical, cultural commonalties and deepening of bilateral, regional and international relations between the two countries would benefit both nations and establishment of peace and stability in the region and the world, he said.
President Rouhani pointed out that undoubtedly in the way of development of trade and economic cooperation and activities of the private sector between the two states, development of banking ties will play a remarkable role.
Zeybekci, for his part, said that Turkey intends to remove obstacles which prevent easing of the economic relations and take big steps in the way of consolidation of mutual cooperation.
He said that Turkey attaches special importance to development of ties and all-out cooperation with Iran and intends to promote cooperation level with Tehran by drawing a roadmap.
Iran and Turkey have in recent years increased their cooperation in all the various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture.
The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.
Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Ebrahim Taherian Fard announced in March that Tehran and Ankara are eager to boost their trade ties up to $30bln.
Iran’s principled policy is to develop constructive ties with neighboring countries, Taherian Fard said, adding that Turkey is of Iran’s priorities to promote all-out relations.
He also congratulated the Persian new year, saying that the Iranian officials in the Iran diplomatic mission in Turkey and the consulate general are ready to give services to those travelling to Turkey.
