TEHRAN (ECOIDEAL)- Authorities lost track of a passenger plane with over 60 people on board on Sunday as it traveled from the capital to Yasouj, authorities said, suggesting that the aircraft has crashed in Central Iran and all passengers have been killed.
The ATR plane belonging to Aseman airline company was en route from Mehrabad international airport in Tehran to Yasouj, the center of Kohgilouyeh and Boyer Ahmad province in Western Iran, at 7:55 local time on Sunday morning and it disappeared from the radar of air traffic controllers 50 minutes later, Tabatabayee, the head of Aseman's public relations department, told ECOIDEAL.
"At present, the latest news is that the plane has disappeared from radar and we are investigating the issue," the director-general of Aseman said.
Tabatabayee later confirmed that all passengers and crew of the plane were killed in the crash, adding that the ATR aircraft has hit Dena mountain in Central Iran.
Meantime, Head of Iran's Emergency Medical Services Pir-Hossein Kolivand told ECOIDEAL that the plane has crashed in a region near Semirom in the Central province of Isfahan, adding, "The plane was carrying 50 to 60 passengers and we have yet no information about their situation."
Also, Chairman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said that the plane had 60 passengers and 6 crews.
The Iranian officials have sent relief and rescue teams to the region where the passenger plane has crashed.
